Who We Are
Trigger Warning is a literary magazine by writers, for writers. We read submissions year-round and release an issue three times a year. We try to maintain a healthy discourse with all our writers and will get back to authors regarding the status of their submissions within three weeks. Authors are encouraged to inquire about their submissions if they have not heard back from us prior to the end of this time frame.
What We’re Looking For
Every writer greets the blank page with a story; with palpable, tangible illustrations that echo their life experiences. We want to taste those stories. We want to eat, drink, breathe those stories. We are Trigger Warning, a literary publication dedicated to finding those works that speak fluently the language of what it is to overcome and rise above those situations that haunt us most. We accept pieces of realistic fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, personal essay, poetry and hybrid works that focus on the trials and tribulations that arise out of being human. In addition, we look for works that possess literary substance (i.e. use of metaphor, figurative language, imagery, subtlety and a clear, authoritative voice). We accept works from anyone of any race, gender, or sexual orientation over the age of 18; those who do not meet this age requirement, please do not submit to this magazine. Bring us your best work; we want to listen.
Why You Should Submit
We believe our authors deserve to be paid for their work, which is why we charge a $5 reading fee for all submissions. This helps us to both pay the writers which appear in the magazine as well as keep the magazine functioning and printable. Writers whose work is accepted will receive a $25 reward for their work as well as a free copy of the magazine. Submissions will not be reviewed until payment is received.
